Objectives
HftV intends to grow into an international organization that provides responsive and dependable solutions to challenges affecting vulnerable people globally, targeting Health, food and nutrition, education, poverty alleviation, disaster/relief management and institutional development.
HftV will:
- Reduce the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases, and promote access to quality sexual and reproductive health services among the vulnerable people by strengthening prevention, control and management practices
- Promote quality learning among vulnerable children, adolescents, youths, disable persons and girls through provision of fees, learning materials, trainings and others
- Promote quality food and nutrition among the vulnerable people through trainings, provision of food aid, strengthening food safety, advocacy and policy formulation and other basic necessities.
- Promote poverty alleviation among the vulnerable people through trainings, microfinance and making grants available to individuals and groups, adolescent, youth and women empowerment, safe drinking water, strengthening food security and others
- Support disaster/relief management through prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
- Carry out any other activities for the support of vulnerable persons

Focus Areas
Quality Health
The focus areas seek to reduce the burden of Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases and promote Sexual and Reproductive Health Services among the vulnerable people in the community. The key communicable diseases targeted include Malaria, Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, HIV/AIDS, Neglected Tropical Diseases [NTDs] and emerging pandemics. The non-communicable diseases targeted include cancers, cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, sickle cell disease, epilepsy and mental health. The pillar also intends to contribute to eye health and sexual and reproductive health services among the vulnerable people in Kenya.
Food and Nutrition
The focus area seeks to contribute to the promotion of good food and nutrition to the vulnerable members in the community, especially in hard-to-reach counties as well as the slums of big cities and towns.
Quality Education
This key area intends to contribute to quality education for vulnerable children, disables persons, adolescents and youths in the community.
Poverty Alleviation
The strategic focus will contribute to poverty alleviation among the vulnerable people by supporting education, access to healthcare, access to finance, gender equality, empowering girls and women, adolescents and youths, providing safe drinking water and proper sanitation, improve nutrition and food security, support environmental programs, bridging gap between policies and achievement, prevent child marriage and child labor.
Disaster/Relief Management
The pillar seeks to contribute to disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery among the vulnerable peoples. These shall be achieved through environmental conservation, mitigation of the impact of climate change, workplace safety and security and responding to emergency and humanitarian situations.
Institutional Development
HftV seeks to contribute to good leadership and governance, strategy and planning, general management and operations, supplies and procurement management, financial and physical resource management, infrastructure and equipment, human resource management, management information systems, external relations and partnerships for HftV as an organization.
Strategic Approaches to Implementation of Activities
Advocacy and Communication
HftV will utilize this approach to call for support from policy makers and managers at national, sub-national and community levels to promote innovative strategies and activities by individuals, organization and partners towards helping the vulnerable people. HftV will also use advocacy to lobby for the development of policy documents needed to provide guideline in the implementation of the activities. Communication messages and materials responsive to the needs of the vulnerable people will be developed and disseminated together with policy documents.
Capacity Development
The capacity development is needed to be able to nurture, enhance and utilize the skills and knowledge of the workers, partners, community and institution for the benefit of the vulnerable people in the community. This will involve trainings and strengthening of systems.
Service Delivery
HftV will support and provide services to the vulnerable people, especially community-based diagnosis and treatment eg malaria, food and medicines during disasters, screening for cancers and others.
Infrastructural Improvement and Provision of Materials
HftV seeks to contribute to the responsive learning environment for disabled children by making them friendly, provide shelters to displaced persons during disasters, establish empowerment centers for youth and feeding centers for elderly persons and others. HftV will also support information technology needed by the targeted people and partners.
Collaborations and Partnership
HftV seeks to collaborate and also get in to partnership with NGOs, community-based organizations [CBOs], faith-based organization [FBOs], community groups, Government departments and others to enable effective, efficient and sustainable implementation of activities for the benefit of vulnerable people.
Operation Research and Evidence -Based Interventions:
The organization will promote operation research to provide evidence for best practices and lessons learnt for replication in other parts of the country.
Institutional Development
HftV as an organization needs to undergo strategic strengthening and development to be able to spearhead the implementation of the activities in targeted areas.
